African Barrick Gold (ABG) seeks to appoint dedicated, self motivated and highly organized HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR, GEOLOGICAL ASSISTANT, METALLURGICAL CLERK AND BOILER MAKER for its Buzwagi Gold Mine. Below are the details for the openings.
POSITION: HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR-(7 POSTS)
Reporting line; Security Training centre section leader
Location; Buzwagi Gold Mine, Kahama District, shinyanga region

Work Schedule; 6 weeks on; 3 weeks off
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure that safety standards, FLRA, Safe working Procedures and complied in full in order to achieve Zero Lost time Injury (LTI) Frequency Rate
• Conduct a comprehensive prestart check for any Mining equipment prior to using it and ensure full ownership and care to the end of the shift
• Work with the mine dispatcher to ensure that load and haul equipment is utilized in an optimum manner. Provide timely acknowledgement of dispatch assignments and achieve designed loads per hour
• Good care and optimal utilization of GET (bucket, teeth, cutting edge, blade etc)
• Good floor, levels and grading control for dump Truck, Excavator, dozer and grader operators
• Ensure efficient utilization of resources; including fuel, tyres, fire extinguishers etc
• Ensure No abuse of equipment
• Any other duties that may be assigned to fulfill the overall business objective.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education Requirements;
• Certificate of Secondary Education examination
• Certificate of competence on heavy equipments such as Dump Track, Shovel, Excavator, dozer, wheel loader and grader
• Clear and effective communication skills in written and spoken English
• Valid Tanzanian driving license
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS;
• Must have Heavy equipment operating experience on the following; Dump Track, Shovel, Excavator, dozer, or grader
• Mining experience will be an added advantage

Reporting line; Production Geologist
Location; Buzwagi Gold Mine, Kahama District, shinyanga region
Work Schedule; 5 days on, 5 nights on, 5 days off
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To be pro-active in all aspects of operational safety,efficient utilization of the resources and encourage teamwork across the departments
• Accurately maintain grade Control sampling, drilling and mining data records and quality control
• Basic Geological and survey works are carried out efficiently and effectively in the mine
• Liaising with the Mine surveyors to facilitate optimal pit pick-ups and mark outs
• Actively participate with the Grade Control drilling and Mining operators, who are responsible for conduct of site preparation and mining activities
• Ensure all Geological items are kept in a safe and orderly manner
• To be able to read survey plan for ore mark ups and excavator dig control
• Other duties that may be assigned by the production geologist and the senior production Geologist to fulfill the overall the business objective.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education Requirements;
• Advanced certificate of Secondary education examination with intermediate mathematics and English skills
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS;
• A minimum 1-2 years mining and Exploration experience in a mine or field technician role, preference for open cut mining preferably in multi-element deposits
• Very good knowledge of mine safety regulations and Industry Best practices. Intermediate computer skills in: MS office Software package
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently

Work Schedule; 14 days on, 7 days off
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure total adherence to all Safety, Occupational health and environmental policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines
• Prepare accurate and timely reports and data for the process plant department.
• Ensure accurate and timely Metallurgical, Reagents and concentrates accounting
• Assist process department with Warehouse Requisitions, purchase orders and stock retrieval
• Co-ordinates general administrative and clerical functions for the process department
• Assist process department with external communications
• Assist process department with preparing presentations
• Be proactive in all aspects of process plant security to prevent and eliminate theft and fraud
• Ensure no disruption to work due to industrial relations issues
• Ensure adherence to all barrack policies and procedures
• Carry out any other relevant duties as assigned by the Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education Requirements;
• Advanced certificate of Secondary education examination is a minimum requirement.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS;
• Two years practical work experience; including previous work experience in the mining industry or secretarial work is desirable
• Strong communication skills (English and Kiswahili)
• Good computer skills (excel, word, outlook, power point)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure total adherence to all Safety, Occupational health and environmental policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines
• Carry out fabrication work and corrective maintenance to improve equipment availability, reliability, safety and functionality
• Assist other mechanical tradesmen in maintenance work as required
• Keep workplace in a safe working condition
• Provide accurate and timely feedback to mechanical supervisor on conditions that may affect functionality of equipment availability status
• Ensure the Oracle maintenance management system is utilized as required by the Mechanical Supervisor
• Follow safe work procedures and other maintenance procedures
• Carry out other duties as assigned be the mechanical supervisor.
• Carry out any other relevant duties as assigned by the Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Education Requirements;
• Trade qualification in boilermaker or metal fabrication discipline from a recognized institution
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS;
• Two years practical work experience in boiler making and/or metal fabrication
• Previous experience in industrialized plant is important
• Practical welding and fabrication skills
• Lay-up and mark-out technical skills
• Ability to read fabrication drawings
• Mechanical knowledge
• Technical boiler making skills and experience
• OHSA regulation and compliance
• Familiarity with best practices in workplace health and safety, environmental procedures and legislation policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist the administration of recruitment and placement processes in accordance to Barrick standards and Buzwagi Mine Procedures
• Participate in administration of IR policies and procedures and oversee the administration thereof to ensure consistent and equitable consideration and management of all employees.
• Attend the Commission of Mediation and Arbitration and labour Court session on labour related matters
• Advice and coach supervisors on understanding, interpretation and execution of internal disciplinary process/procedure
• Handle recruitment process with regards to posting advertisement, screening and interviewing with the hiring manager
• Support and attend day-to-day queries from employees with regards to HR Processes and procedures.
• Work closely with Trade Union(s) on employee relation issues.
