MAIN RESPONSIBILITY:

• Carry out bank reconciliation within the set timelines;

• Prompt and current updating of clients accounts and issuance of montly statements;
• Timely processing of supplier payment within the set timelines.
• Receive and match supplier invoice with LPOs and /or contracts and ascertain the correctness of detailed before processing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE.
• Basic university degree in accounting or finance
• CPA module E
• Knowledge on SAP or any other ERP will be an added advantage.
• Excellent communication skills; and
• 1-3 years working experience

Southern Highlands Participatory Organisation (SHIPO) is a Tanzanian Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Njombe town in the heart of the Southern Highlands of Tanzania.
SHIPO is helping organized groups and communities to help themselves in their efforts to raise their living standards and alleviate poverty. SHIPO supports communities in hardware (structures) and software (education, mobilization, sensitization, consultancy, training, supervision, progress monitoring and evaluation) to realize their visions and dreams and to ensure the sustainability of our projects.
One of SHIPO's new educational projects is to support 20 Primary schools in Ludewa District in Njombe Region. The project will take an innovative and multi-facetted approach to the educational support and include components such as improved school nutrition, teacher training, construction and rehabilitation of school buildings, water supply, raised awareness and improved practices on sanitation & hygiene, curricular development, etc. The project is realized through a strong partnership with our Italian partner organization, Intervita Tanzania.
SHIPO is seeking a dynamic, motivated and team–oriented professional to work as coordinator of the project. We invite applicants from Tanzania as well as applicants from around the world.
Tasks
Based on a collaboration with 9-10 staff members employed for this project (Community Development Officers, Technical Officers, Masons and Administrative staff and drivers), the Project Coordinator will have the overall responsibility to:
• Plan and coordinate project activities on annual, quarterly, monthly and weekly basis, based on the overall planning done during the project proposal phase,
• Coordinate the work of the project staff involved in the project,
• Ensure that local, regional and other government authorities are well informed, involved and show ownership to the project activities by providing their share of the project,
• Follow up the project budget,
• Plan and coordinate the movements of project staff and transport means,
• Follow up purchase procedures,
• Keep the project inventory updated,
• Ensure that agreements are signed with involved stakeholders before implementation of activities,
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual narrative reports,
• Fundraise for SHIPO´s own contribution to the project,
• Develop advertisements and articles to promote the project in the region, nationally and internationally,
• Ensure that realized products (software as well as hardware) are entered into the SHIPO monitoring system.
• Ensure that all Intervita Tanzania’s and SHIPO’s procedures are applied and respected in the handling of the project.

• Degree in Development Studies, Educational development or similar related field,
• Knowledge in Project Cycle Management,
• Experience in coordinating development work in Africa, preferably East Africa,
• Fluent in verbal and written English. Knowledge of Ki-swahili is an advantage,

TANZANIAN YOUNG EXPERT - SHIPO SMART CENTRE COORDINATOR (1 POST)
Description of the vacancy
Southern Highlands Participatory Organisation (SHIPO) is a Tanzanian Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Njombe town in the heart of the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. SHIPO is helping organized groups and communities to help themselves in their efforts to raise their living standards and alleviate poverty. SHIPO supports communities in hardware (structures) and software (education, mobilization, sensitization, consultancy, training, supervision, progress monitoring and evaluation) to realize their visions and dreams and to ensure the sustainability of our projects.
The rationale of employing a local Young Expert is to increase access for poor people in the Southern Highlands and Tanzania to reliable and safe water and sanitation facilities that are also partly suitable for productive use. In order to achieve this rationale the local Young Expert will provide technical input and guidance to SHIPO and other stakeholders (local companies, government staff) with regard to the planning, monitoring, evaluation, reporting, implementation and production of WASH projects and WASH facilities. The local Young Expert will also design and implement activities to build and strength a commercial sustainable market for a broad range of new and existing low cost WASH solutions that serve the needs of the poor.
Tasks
• The SMART Centre is successfully managed in a (semi)commercial basis thanks to an increased revenue generated thorough its activities.
• The SMART centre activities are increased: (number of trainings conducted, number of entrepreneurs trained, number of micro loan schemes implemented, number low cost technologies demonstrated, number of potential clients reached through promotional activities, number of low cost technologies installed and monitored, etc.).
• A Quality Monitoring and Certification program for suppliers and installers of self-supply technologies is successfully implemented by using the web-based version of SMART-info (a software specifically created for the SMART centre by one of SHIPO’s Dutch Partner organizations: Foundation Connect International).
• SHIPO’s staff is successfully trained in the use of the SMART-Info, that is also used to monitoring and reporting in other SHIPO’s projects and programs;
The selected candidate will be asked to live in Njombe with frequent travel within Tanzania and probably abroad to other SMART Centres in Malawi, Mozambique, etc.. Initially, the Young expert, will go for a 3-week training course in the Netherlands.

• An documented, engineering educational background;
• Knowledge on WASH related technologies, construction, water supply and sanitation;
• Maximum 2-3 years of working experience;
• Computer knowledge;

• Experience with database programs;
• Experience in Rural/Community Development, field work in water and sanitation;
• Experience with water system designs.
SHIPO offers
• A two-year contract, including an introduction trip to the Netherlands within the first three months of probation time. It is anticipated that the local Young Expert will become a permanent staff member of SHIPO after the two year contract based on performance assessement,

SHIPO is seeking for a dynamic, motivated and team – oriented professional to work as a Cashier with store-keeping experience.
Tasks
• Receive payment by cash, issue receipts to customers up to the amount stipulated in the Financial manual
• Timely updating data in the system both cash data and store data.
• Performance Daily, weekly and monthly Cash counting
• Pay organization bills by cash up to the amount specified in the Financial manual
• Daily updating the petty cashbook
• Responsible for keeping SHIPO store of materials at SHIPO offices and at project sites
• Training project committees in store management at the site
• Stocktaking/monitoring of data entry at the site
• Support in financial activities as per assignment given by the close supervisor/department head

The Southern Highlands Participatory Organisation (SHIPO) is a Tanzanian Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Njombe, Tanzania.
SHIPO facilitates people in rural villages and Community Based Organisations (CBO’s) to plan and execute small-scale self-help projects in the district of Njombe and Ludewa.
SHIPO’s aim is to facilitate organized groups (e.g. communities, women groups) with the successful implementation of self-help projects that contribute to the improvement of their living standards and the alleviation of poverty.
Tasks
• As a Technical Officer you are responsible for coordinating several construction projects in the department.
• Supervising, coordinating, budgeting and planning of building projects.
• Planning and follow up on projects status and inform Technical Department Manager on the progress.
• Ability to prepare reports on time.
• Preparation and Facilitation of Technical training activities for project committees, caretakers, operation and maintenance committees and other actors in the community development process.
Skills and Competences
The applicant should posses a Diploma in civil engineering or FTC from a recognized institution with at least 2 years relevant experience in civil construction.
